The Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) Secretary-General and Member of Parliament (MP) for Kota Bharu Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan released a statement on behalf of his party yesterday (22 September) on the ongoing investigation by the authorities into the Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH).

In the statement, Takiyuddin said that PAS has been following the investigations by several authorities closely, including the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Ministry of Health (MOH), Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (JAKIM), Department of Social Welfare Malaysia (JKM), National Registration Department (JPN) and states’ Islamic authorities.

Accordingly, the Kota Bharu MP says that PAS welcomes transparent, thorough and professional investigations into the many allegations against GISBH, whether involving deviant beliefs, business dealings, sexual offences, criminal activities and so on.

However, the party said that based on the “negative narrative and campaign” against GISBH that are prevalent on social media, PAS instead calls for all steps to be taken cautiously and diligently to ensure that no waiver of rights, injustice, double standards or overzealous actions take place.

Takiyuddin asserted,

“PAS also fully supports strict action being taken against the parties found guilty, but the enthusiasm to punish them should not have a negative effect on the group as a whole, especially the innocent members or the legitimate, lawful and beneficial aspects of GISBH’s activities.

“In this regard, PAS believes the positive sides of this group, including its extensive business network, should be preserved and protected from rash and unfair actions that may be caused by reckless sentiments, prejudice, business competition or certain political agendas of those trying to exploit the issue.”
