There can be no further denying the drastic changes of climate change, whether it be unusual weather activity or the abnormal rising and falling of temperatures around the world. But by far the most visible changes to the world that we can see today as a result of climate change hails from Africa, as reported by The Guardian, SkyNews, and Telegraph News.

In an incident that nobody could have foreseen happening to one of the world’s most majestic waterfalls, Victoria Falls, which is located in the Southern part of Africa where the mighty Zambezi river takes a steep fall down into the earth, has dried up.

Yes, you heard correctly, the beautiful views of white rapids cascading down the cliffs like gossamer tresses have completely disappeared.

This is a result of one of the worst droughts to have hit the area in over a century, where Zimbabwe and Zambia, both nations who have profited from the tourist draw that the Victoria Falls have brought in, are located.

While in previous years, cases of drought would have slowed the falls down, local experts say that they have never seen the falls reduced to low, weak trickles of water. This has led to fears of climate change, with many locals worried that this will affect their income from tourism. While the waterfalls have not dried up completely, they are far from the gushing white rapids they once were.

It remains unknown whether the waterfalls will return once the drought passes over, but we sure hope so! They’re a beautiful not to mention integral part to the local landscape there, after all!

Climate change is real, and we as a society can no longer afford to deny that fact. So be sure to do your part to help the environment! Every little bit contributes to an ever so slightly brighter future for us, and our grandchildren.
