Vacations are meant to be relaxing and stress-free, or in other words, we just want to chill and have fun! Imagine having to follow certain rules like attire in public places or what you’re not allowed to do.

Earlier this week, the Minister of Tourism, Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing claimed that he had received multiple complaints from non-Muslim tourists who said they were not allowed to wear shorts at the beach and purchase alcohol. Tiong highlighted the matter in the parliamentary session recently and demanded an explanation from the Menteri Besar of Kedah himself, Muhammad Sanusi.

“We’re not going to investigate because…”

Sanusi has since responded to Tiong’s claim about the dilemmas of non-Muslim tourists in Langkawi and made it clear that no investigations will be done on the matter.

This is because to Sanusi, Tiong was merely making baseless accusations and he had no proof when he was highlighting the matter in the parliament.

In fact, Sanusi graciously “invited” Tiong to Langkawi to personally experience what it’s like to be a tourist there, as reported by Oriental Daily.

“Tiong should come to Langkawi in shorts and see if anyone stops him.”

Not only that but Sanusi also told Tiong to “knock himself out” by having as many drinks as he wanted.

“If he’s here, he can drink as much as he wants,” Sanusi said.

To our non-Muslim friends, if you have been to Langkawi recently, did you encounter any issues if you were wearing shorts or when you were getting some alcohol supplies?
