The Menteri Besar of Johor recently shared that his state is something of a touristic treasure.

But, unfortunately, a foreign tourist does not agree and have called Johor Bahru a “scam city” for tourists.

Influencer, KakSue, took to her Twitter page to highlight the tourist’s video on Johor being a “scam city”.

She wrote, “Johor Bahru, scam city. Sorry to say, YAB Datuk Onn Hafiz, before you start advancing plans for state tourism, you best start in Johor Bahru. Johor Bahru is now known as ‘scam city’. How can you compete with Singapore if the popularity of Johor Bahru is very low when compared to Ipoh, Georgetown or Kuala Lumpur?”

In the tourist’s video, he shared that he had wanted to visit Johor for 4 years and when he finally decided to go, all the places that he wanted to visit was closed.

“Any tourist place I wanted to visit has been closed for years and there wasn’t any proper info on their websites,”

“I was looking forward to this place but this too was closed and abandoned when I got there,” he said, referring to Danga Bay Park.

He went on to share how “half the city is under construction” and that maintenance there is poor.
