Malaysians raged online yesterday (19 July) after a video of a man who was seen yelling at a nasi lemak vendor and her daughter for asking him to wear a mask went viral. When one of their regular customers stepped in to defend them, the man proceeded to threaten the man and said that he would beat him up.
Deputy Brickfields OCPD Superintendent Basri Sagoni confirmed today (20 July) that the man has been arrested and remanded reported Sinar Harian. The 33-year-old suspect was arrested near his house at Taman Desa Bakti 8pm yesterday (19 July).
The suspect will be remanded for two days to be investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation as well as Rule 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations for violating SOPs.
