Over the years, cosplay has grown into its very own industry and many more cosplay events are popping up.

During the weekend, there was a cosplay party which happened at Ipoh Parade and a very special guest who stole everyone’s attention joined in the competition.

The special guest cosplayed as Ultraman and their picture was shared widely across multiple platforms.

As this Ultraman is plus-sized and is different from the Ultraman we are used to seeing in our childhood, there were many unnecessary comments about his weight and body shape.

“Ultraman: Every since the dinosaur became extinct, the world was peaceful and there was no need to fight. So, that’s why the body became like this,” commented a netizen.

“A mutation of Ultraman,” said another.

“Other people are the strong type while this person is the obese type.”

“I feel like Ultraman was too starved so he swallowed the monster whole,” said another.

On the other hand, there were also many people who stood up for this Ultraman and believe that he did a great job.

“Respect. I saw him live yesterday, he commanded the stage well,” said a user.

“He is very courageous for doing that and he shouldn’t be laughed at. Not everyone is brave enough to stand on stage. It’s a good experience.”

“He should be given a courage award as he performed very seriously, great work,” said another.

Well, we definitely believe that it took a lot of courage to stand up on that stage and perform. That itself is very commendable and something that not just anyone can do.

Even though the Ultraman is a crowd favourite, he did not win any prizes, according to the organiser of the competition.

However, when the Ultraman went up on the stage, the crowd roared. You can watch their performances in the video here.

Commenting on someone’s weight is not a very good thing to do as it affects the person being talked about. Words have lasting effects on people and you can read more about how it affects a person in the article below:
