Malaysian food doesn’t receive the global recognition it deserves, despite its delicious blend of Chinese, Indian, and Malay influences.

While we understand that it might not be everyone’s taste, a recent post by user @anthraxxx781 on X featured an interview with Japanese netizens where they were asked about the country they wouldn’t want to visit or which country they dislike.

In the video, netizens mention “cold countries” in general, “Russia,” and even “South East Asian countries.” However, one man’s answer, in particular, caught the internet’s attention

The Japanese man shared that he had been to Malaysia before and found that Malaysian food wasn’t to his liking.

“Malaysia. When I visited, I didn’t find the food particularly appealing.”

Some Malaysians weren’t too happy about the man’s response and quickly joined the conversation to share their thoughts on the Japanese man’s response.

Negative 1

“Many foreigners have praised Malaysian food, but it seems like whoever took this person to eat might have chosen the wrong places, leading to his negative comments.”

Negative 2 1
“I’m confident the guy probably just bought some boxed coconut milk and drank it all, leading him to say Malaysian food isn’t good.”

However, it wasn’t all negative, some internet users even went so far as to defend the man.

Defend 1

“Everyone should leave him be.”

Defend2

“I understand where the man is coming from. My mother went to Japan and even she couldn’t take their food.”
