Earlier this morning (27th December 2019) at 11.30am, a naked man holding a parang in his right hand ran amok around a mosque in Kuantan. He is suspected to be mentally disoriented. The video contains nudity so watch at your own risk.

As shown in the video, the man was swinging a parang while chasing down a policeman, who was trying to approach him. The policeman tried to keep his distance from the blade while speaking to the man, presumably ordering him to put the parang down. Later in the clip, the offender appeared in front of the mosque, mindlessly slashing at a bench arm and breaking it, causing a commotion in the vicinity.

According to China Press, the locals called the police immediately after the madman entered the mosque. Once the offender noticed he was surrounded by a group of people and police, he suddenly stripped naked and chased a policeman with a parang in his hand, slashing his right arm in the process. Luckily, the policeman was only lightly injured.

He later fled the scene towards Tanjung Lumpur and made a mess there, before he threw his weapon into the river.
In an interview with a deliveryman who was passing by the scene, he recounted the struggle between the policeman and the madman while nobody dared to approach them.
“The police and I chased him down. When he let down his guard and let go of his parang, we caught him on a bridge at Tanjung Lumpur.”

The man was later sent to Hospital Kuantan Tengku Ampuan Afzan for a mental examination.
