“Nailed the hand gestures too!” – M’sians Impressed by Multilingual Sabahan Tour Guide’s Fluent Italian

The linguistic prowess of a Sabahan tour guide caught the attention of Malaysians recently, leaving many in awe of his communication skills with foreign tourists.

Going viral online as shared by Percutian Kundasang, a Kota Kinabalu-based travel agency, on Facebook, the Malaysian man can be seen talking in fluent Italian with a couple of tourists from Italy.

In the video recorded at a retail store at an undisclosed location, the tour guide was helping the Italians to communicate with vendors who were selling pearls.

The Sabahan tour guide assisted the vendors in explaining, in detail, the various pearl products to the tourists. These include the differences between pearls from the sea and freshwater, as well as their prices.

Throughout the video, the man spoke in fluent Italian, complete with the expressive hand gestures that the Italians are famous for.

In the overlaid text of the video, Percutian Kundasang wrote,

Malaysians were awed by the man’s language prowess

In the comments section, many Malaysians were impressed by the man’s linguistic skills.

One Sabahan in the comments revealed that the man is well-known as he’s fluent in multiple languages and has a good singing voice too.

Meanwhile, another commenter said that it’s rare to find someone who speaks fluent Latin-based languages such as Italian and Spanish in Malaysia as most people in our country tend to prefer East Asian languages due to the popularity of K-dramas and Japanese culture.
