Donald Trump rode back into power as the 47th President of the United States of America, with his inauguration taking place Monday evening (January 20).
After bringing TikTok back to life, Trump spoke about the genders in the country during his first inauguration speech and made it clear that the US only recognizes two sexes – male and female. The recognition was made to end any “radical and wasteful” policies aimed at promoting racial equity and protecting rights for LGBTQ+ people.
“There are only 2 genders – male and female,” Trump said.
“This week, I will also end the government policy of trying to socially engineer race and gender into every aspect of public and private life.”
Trump added that the government will forge a society that is colour-blind and merit-based, which will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders. The US government will also use the term “sex” rather than “gender”, while mandating that identification documents issued by the government, including passports and visas.
Trump’s inauguration speech has “scrapped” Joe Biden’s executive orders that prevented “discrimination of gender identity or sexual orientation”, discrimination for LGBTQ Americans in education, as well as equity programs for Black and Hispanic Americans.

During his inauguration speech, Trump took the time to highlight the recent wildfires in Los Angeles, criticising the lack of adequate response and vowing to prioritise disaster preparedness.
“Fires are raging through houses and communities, even affecting some of the wealthiest and most powerful individuals in our country.
“They don’t have a home anymore. We cannot let this happen,” he said.
