The Road Transport Department (JPJ) revealed today that over 6 million summonses worth a staggering RM806.9 million issued by the department are yet to be settled by the offenders.
This amount involves unpaid summonses from 2010 until October 2024 for various offences, including speeding, running the red light and disregarding traffic rules.

According to Harian Metro, the outstanding summonses last year amounted to RM286.2 million, an increase from RM203.38 million recorded in 2023.
Furthermore, the outstanding summonses in 2024 were a significant increase from the RM86.88 million worth of summonses recorded in 2022, RM29.98 million in 2021 and RM8.86 million in 2020.
The summonses issued involve various vehicle types, including motorcycles, motorcars, public transportation and vehicles carrying goods.
From 2010 to October 2024, over 26 million summonses were issued involving various offences, with 15 million of the summonses worth more than RM2.3 billion settled by the offenders.

Meanwhile, Utusan Malaysia quoted JPJ Director General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli as saying that the department enforces restrictions on road users with outstanding summonses such as barring them from renewing their driver’s license or vehicle road tax.
Aedy added that JPJ is continuously educating the public to settle their outstanding summonses and soon, the department is planning to introduce a new feature on the MyJPJ app to notify users of any outstanding summonses.
Well, for those with outstanding summonses, do note that JPJ is currently offering a RM150 flat rate compound for traffic offences until 30 June 2025.
