A Johor eatery owner finds joy in feeding stray dogs that often “stroll” around her restaurant area. However, in doing so, she has received criticisms from some netizens, including boycott threats from customers who deem her deeds “Haram”.
In a response video by the owner herself on her TikTok post @salaistar, she clarified that as a Muslim, there’s nothing wrong with feeding stray animals, including dogs.
“They’re one of God’s creations, too”
In case you are not aware, Muslims are required to go through a cleansing process known as “Samak” if one touches a dog. The owner revealed that she was merely feeding the hungry strays and had never touched them so far.
In her post, she also reminded everyone of the dogs, saying that the furry friends are also one of God’s creations that need protection. As an animal lover herself, the owner told naysayers,
“Some people sent me messages and scolded me, saying I shouldn’t feed the dog, but the dog is also God’s creation. As an animal lover, my soul is inseparable from them.”
What about those who are planning to boycott her?
“To those who are sending me messages about boycotting me, I hope you can stop doing that. I hope you understand my intention and please stop damaging my restaurant’s reputation.”
She also revealed that she does not just feed stray dogs but also other animals, including birds and monkeys.
Not only that, she believes that instead of throwing away leftover food from restaurants, it is better to feed it to animals, which not only prevents wastage but also accumulates blessings.
@salaistar Bukan saja2 bagi anjing makan. Dia pun makhluk allah jugak. Perlukan pembelaan. Just bagi makan je. #salaisalailomaklomakbakobako #salaistar #fyp #foryou #joho #anjing #animallover
