The suspect involved in the killing of the missing 26-year-old Nurul Asikin Lan has confessed to the murder and revealed the shocking reason behind the atrocity.
The suspect needed to pawn Nurul’s jewellery for some cash so that he could catch a live football match in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Sarawak’s Police Commissioner, Datuk Mancha Ata, said the suspect confessed to the murder during interrogation and admitted that he needed cash to watch the live football match which took place on December 8 in Cambodia, reported Harian Metro.
He took away Nurul’s gold bracelets and gold earrings to pawn.
Datuk Mancha added that the suspect led the police to the location where Nurul’s body was disposed of and found new evidence there recently.
“Based on the evidence that we have at hand now, the case is almost closed,” Datuk Mancha said.
Nurul’s body was discovered near a ditch where her corpse had started to decompose. She went missing on December 5, and her family claimed that she went out with a man she just met for a meal.
In another report by Utusan Sarawak, Nurul’s father, Lan, said that he hoped the perpetrator would receive punishment for the crime against his daughter.
