The 19-minute video of the press conference entitled, Terkini Tun Mahathir – Video Penuh Sidang Media Pakatan Harapan has gone viral and is the number one video trending in YouTube.

Syed Saddiq said, “On May 8, the eve of election day, Tun Mahathir would be giving a ‘Perdana Speech’ at 10pm which would be aired live on Facebook. He will be giving the speech in Langkawi. At the same time, the speech will be aired in all the other 222 Parliament where Pakatan Harapan is supposed to be having their ceramah. All other speeches will be suspended to ensure that Dr Mahathir’s speech is aired.”

The aim of this finale speech is that Dr Mahathir wants it to reach at least 10 million Malaysian voters, including civil servants throughout the nation. Syed Saddiq appealed to Malaysian youths and hoped that they will stay home that night so that they can stream the Perdana speech and share it with their friends and family who are not able to attend any of Pakatan Harapan’s ceramah.

Dr Mahathir said that the caretaker government has come up with all sorts of ways to stop him from making appearances during this GE14, even taking steps to cut out his images on billboards. “We are going to make good use of social media and reach 10 million voters. They (caretaker government) will do anything to stop us from holding our rallies. They know our rallies are very big, sometimes as many as 25,000. Yet people still managed to come to our rallies even with all the obstacles.”

He also said that he was touched and surprised by Malaysians who braved the rain and mud to attend Pakatan Harapan’s rallies even though it must have been very uncomfortable. In the press conference, he addressed the alleged plane sabotage that happened on nomination day.

He was supposed to fly to Langkawi with his wife and daughter but before the plane took off, the pilot discovered that the front wheel was damaged, which would have made landing it downright dangerous. Dr Mahathir said that no one arranged another plane for him, and he had to borrow his friend’s plane to make it in time for his nomination.
