It’s widely known that Muslim men can have four wives and while many women would object if their husbands expressed a desire to have another spouse, this lady known as Khuzatul Atiqah did the opposite. She started looking for a second wife for her husband when she saw that no one was looking after him while she was pregnant.

According to The Reporter, she said she couldn’t bear seeing him so tired and uncared for as he was working hard and needed to take care of her as she felt unwell during her pregnancy. “He looked so tired that I felt bad for him so I decided to find a second wife for my husband. At that time, I thought that if this situation continues no one would be able to take care of my husband so I decided to look for another wife,” she said.
She happened to meet Nur Fathonah, a single mother she had met on social media in 2018 and had become good friends with. Khuzatul said that she broached the subject about being her husband’s second wife on their second meeting. Fathonah was surprised by this as she did not think that she would get married again, but after much persuasion from Khuzatul, she agreed to go over for buka puasa during Ramadan.

In her Facebook post, Fathonah said, “I could see that she had a very happy family and my children were also happy there. We started getting closer on WhatsApp and I could see that Khuzatul really cares for my family. Her husband also sent his wishes and regards through Khuzatul and from here, I could see that this family is genuinely concerned for my wellbeing.”
After careful deliberation, Fathonah said that she believes it was fate and saw that being in a polygamous relationship was actually a beautiful thing. She agreed to be the second wife and said that it was actually a good arrangement and beneficial for all parties.

Both of them shared their experience on social media and netizens praised Khuzatul for being generous enough to open her heart to another wife so that her husband would always be taken care of. Many of them sent their blessings to the family and wished them happiness as well.
When asked, Khuzatul said that her husband did not give much reaction when she said that she wanted to find a second wife for him and just smiled. Now, the whole family lives happily together and has opened a recording studio at Seksyen 15, Shah Alam.
