Be careful when you’re driving home, peeps! Criminals are lurking everywhere waiting to take advantage of innocent people at any moment, so we must always be alert. Videos of an attempted car robbery recently went viral on social media but luckily, the female driver managed to escape unscathed from the daring attempt.
Based on several CCTV footage videos that were posted online, the incident happened in a residential area in Banting yesterday (12th September) around 11pm. The woman had already reached her front gate and was waiting for the auto-gate to open to park her car inside.
Suddenly, a silver Toyota Vios with five men inside pulls up just before the auto gate shuts fully. Four men clad in black with gloves and armed with knives come charging out of the vehicle and rush up to the woman’s car. One of them runs inside the house’s compound and tries to break the driver’s window with his weapon.
However, the window doesn’t seem to be giving way and in desperation, the woman reverses her car and crashes through the half-open gate to ram into the getaway car. The other three robbers who were waiting outside get a shock and quickly run back to the Vios but the most determined robber gets over to the driver’s side and tries unsuccessfully to break the window again.
The woman must have had some pretty good shatter-proof security tint on her windows because even after banging away more than 10 times on the window, it still remains intact, albeit with some cracks. Another robber comes back to drag his accomplice away as their robbery attempt has clearly failed and they quickly make their escape.
Luckily, the driver was not hurt and she did not lose any of her valuables from the incident. The netizen, who is the daughter of the driver, shared the video out as she wanted to warn others. Other netizens said that the mother must have been using some really strong shatter-proof security tint and some said she should have sounded her horn to alert others as well.
