Recently, a video of a man who was left confused after he returned to his car to find it clamped despite him parking it correctly in a parking spot went viral.
In the video, the man said that he had parked in the parking lot of Berjaya Times Square but returned to find his car being clamped.
As there was no seemingly good reason for the car to be clamped, the video left plenty of netizens confused and in search of answers.
The man in the video has since released an update video where he clarifies what went down.
In the video, he explained that the parking bay had no restrictions on it such as a cone or a sign to say that it was reserved.
He then said that when he went to the management office to get his car unclamped, the staff merely laughed at him.
After requesting to meet with the manager, he finally got the issue settled and had his car unclamped without having to pay anything.
Berjaya Times Square clarifies the situation
Following the man’s video, the management of Berjaya Times Square had apparently released a statement to clarify the situation.
In their statement, they explained that the car in the video was the only car parked at the back of the Tandem Parking Bay, a space where you’re assigned to a large space to park 2 vehicles. Tandem parking means that you share 2 parking spaces with another person.
The mall’s Car Park Management also had no reasonable way of identifying the owner of the car parked at that said parking bay. So to ensure that the owner of the vehicle would come to the Car Park Management office for assistance, they clamped his car.
After the two parties met and confirmed the situation, the car was released without any fines imposed as the management’s only intent was to act as a deterrence for other car owners.
