Entrance fees are quite common these days, especially at theme parks, parking lots, and even public toilets. But have you ever encountered a clothing boutique that charges for entry?

User @shxyrae took to her TikTok to share about a specific clothing rental boutique that’s implementing an RM10 entry fee for each customer. To make matters more interesting, this fee isn’t just for those trying on clothes but also for their accompanying friends.

The boutique’s notice explains that the entrance fee will only be refunded if you rent their clothing, but if you don’t you’d lose the fee.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Syahirah shared that she posted the TikTok solely to raise awareness and because she feels sorry for customers who have visited or plan to visit the boutique but need to pay a fee.

In her TikTok post, she explained that she had originally planned to visit the boutique. However, after reading the reviews that went viral, she was deeply shocked.

In another customer review of the boutique, a visitor mentioned how the owner even resorted to body-shaming customers. Adding to the issue, the staff were reportedly unfriendly.

The boutique responded to the customer’s review, stating that

“We apologise and will certainly work on improving our service. Thank you for your feedback.”

The positive outcome of this situation is that it has been reported that the owner of the boutique has stopped implementing the RM10 fee after realizing how unnecessary the rule is, especially following backlash and negative reviews.

Boutiques should make efforts to attract their customers to ensure their shopping experience is memorable, and not the other way around.
