Many Malaysians believe that proper meals for students in schools are important, especially to ensure that kids do not go hungry while trying to get an education.
The biggest issue with meals in schools is how they are being served according to their pricing.
The KroniRakyat X page recently shared a comparison between an RM3 meal at a Kebangsaan school and an RM4.5o meal at a Chinese school, with the latter being more balanced and filling.
They wrote, “Now you guys understand, right? Why there are parents who are jumping to send their kids to SJKC? What about those who can’t afford it? This doesn’t even include the RM1 sugary drink.”
They also tagged Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek in their post.
In the comparison, they showed that the RM3 Kebangsaan school meal only had the option of a small portion of plain fried noodles or kuey teow. At the same time, the RM4.50 Chinese school meal options included various types of rice, noodles, vegetables, meat, eggs and fruits.
While many pointed out that Chinese schools often get better funding from parents as compared to Kebangsaan schools, others believe the comparison is unfair as many Kebangsaan schools provide affordable, balanced meals.
