A 32-year-old Malaysian man in Malacca has been sentenced to 6 months in jail for physically abusing his wife.

He got physical after his wife refused to have sex with him last Friday (January 11).

The 32-year-old accused confessed and pleaded guilty immediately after the charge against him was read out before Magistrate Khairunnisak Hassni. The offence was committed in the bedroom of their house at about 2 AM last Friday.

The prosecution for this case is being conducted under Section 375A of the Penal Code which provides for a prison sentence of up to five years, upon conviction.

According to the facts of the case, the accused asked to have sex with his wife, who then rejected and said she was exhausted from taking care of their one-year-old child. The wife also said that she couldn’t stand the accused’s desire to have sex every day.

The accused was not happy with his wife’s answer, causing him to slap and punch her several times before strangling her, causing her to feel suffocated, reported Sinar Harian and Malaysia Gazette.

Fortunately, the victim managed to run out of the room and immediately sought help from her father-in-law, who stayed in the same house.

The prosecution, conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Hanis Aliah Ahmad Kamarulnajuib, requested that a proportionate sentence be imposed on the accused, taking into account that the victim was the accused’s wife. The man, on the other hand, was not represented by an attorney and appealed for a lighter sentence, citing that he had repented and learned from his mistake.

The 6 months jail term started last Friday.
