People are really willing to give their all for the things they love and are passionate about.
We have seen some cases where people have used a large amount of money just to pay for the things that they like. Once they really dedicate themselves to something, they seem to really go for it.
In a similar case, a Malaysian man really gave it his all by selling a plot of land just to buy the ever luxurious koi fish!
Due to his obsession over the Sakai Kohaku breed, the man paid RM300,00 for the fish, with money he got from selling his land.
“I sold my land just for the sake of buying the high-quality Sakai Kohaku koi fish.”
Mohd Zulkifli Husin also known as “Usop Cerek” is 46-year-old and from Kampung Gong Pauh, Terengganu. He has always been in love and dedicated towards his koi fish, and has been active in the koi fish farming field ever since 2015.
The Sakai Kohaku koi fish breed originates from Sakai, Japan, and is one of the best koi fish out there. It has a reputation of continuously winning various koi fish competitions internationally and this is what makes it the star of the show.
According to Usop, the koi fish is still in the Sakai Koi Fish Farm back in Japan as the fish can be bided for quite highly by other koi fish lovers. It was recently was auctioned for RM450,000.
“I’m not ready to sell it yet because the market price can reach up to RM600,00 per fish.”
He added that he intentionally does not plan to bring the fish back to Malaysia so that it can participate in koi fish competitions back in Japan.
“If I bring the koi fish back to Malaysia, the price and exclusive value will decrease and it will be difficult to get buyers who are brave enough to buy the fish according to the market price.”
As of now, he will leave the fish in the hands of the Japanese farm which would hopefully lead him to having a higher chance of reselling it at a much higher price to other koi fish lovers.
Usop has plenty more at home
Usop actually owns 40 more koi fish which swim freely at a koi pond at his house!
‘
The koi fish breeds includes the Omosako Shiro Utsuri, Doitsu Showa, Benikiko, Sanke Sakai, Dainichi Showa and Momotaro Kohaku, all of which is worth more than RM500,000.
“The price of koi fish raised in the koi pond in my house is now worth RM20,000 to RM60,000 each, added with the cost of food and vitamins which could go up to RM2,000 a month,” he said.
