During a media conference held earlier today (20th March) by the Minister of Defense, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, it was declared that the government would cover the meal expenses for students who find themselves stuck in campus or dorms given the strict enforcement of the Movement Control Order that came into effect on Wednesday (18th March).

This was issued as a response to the acknowledgement that up to 60,000 students are left in colleges and higher education institutions during the restriction enforcement, as quoted by BERNAMA.

The coverage of food expenditure would save students the financial burden of feeding themselves during this difficult time in which they are away from their families. Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri also said that all schools will be closed until the end of the Movement Control Order (31st March 2020).

May this bring hope to students who are away from their loved ones during this tough season! Let’s do what we can to ensure this Order isn’t extended beyond its current period.
