Banana fritter, known locally as Pisang Goreng, is one of the most popular finger foods in our country, with roadside vendors selling the snack available almost anywhere nationwide.

In fact, did you know that Pisang Goreng was named the world’s best deep-fried desert earlier this year?

Well, despite the status, not all banana fritters are created equal as this Malaysian hilariously found out after purchasing 5 pieces of the snack from a street vendor.

Taking to X, @magmalaya shared a photo of a super small Pisang Goreng piece which doesn’t even look like a banana fritter at first glance.

With the photo, he shared this caption,

“RM2 for 5 pieces. This makes me want to laugh. Shouldn’t it be in whole pieces? This is sliced banana fritter ?”

As of the time of writing, the X post has garnered over 1,800 likes and 800 reposts, with many replies sharing their own experiences with getting tiny pieces of Pisang Goreng when purchasing them.

In the replies, many commenters said that the banana fritter @magmalaya received looks more like a fried anchovy than Pisang Goreng, a sentiment shared by many other commenters.

Meanwhile, another commenter joked that this is what happens when street food meets fine dining.
