It’s everyone’s dream to earn 5 figures per month but let’s face it. Unless you’re in a certain department or have worked long enough to climb the corporate ladder, you’re likely to keep earning 4 figures while the inflation continues to bother many of us.

However, is earning 5 figures only possible for those working in the office? A Malaysian married couple recently left their full-time job to start a donut business. In return, they earn a whopping RM12,000 per month.

The pair, Haayul, and her husband, Aliff are only 25 and 26, respectively but they are already earning more than many average Malaysians. It’s like going from B40 to T20 after leaving their previous jobs. They did not disclose anything about the previous job but it was a mutual agreement between them to start up the donut business, reported Utusan.

The preparation takes place mostly in Aliff’s house in Kota Tinggi, Johor, where 4 to 5 kilograms of flour are used every day. They start selling at 5 pm but the preparation work starts as early as 9 am every day to sprinkle some sweetness in the buyer’s life.

The full-time bakers admitted that making good donuts is not as easy as it seems because baking involves a lot of research and development, as well as trial and error.

Haayul said that she used to seek guidance from a teacher when it came to baking the pastries. With the knowledge that she gained, she used it to research more about the recipes before she was confident about the donuts she baked.

“We can sell up to 200 pieces of donuts daily and on a good day, everything can be sold out within 1 hour.”

A box of 5 donuts is sold at only RM5 but the prices for every flavour differ.

We wish the pair nothing but the best in their new life and their donut business! Without each other’s support, they would go glazy! In case you’re tired of commuting to work every morning, what do you think about starting a pastry business?
