Khairul Aming’s ten-year journey culminating in the opening of his first restaurant, Rembayung, has inspired many, prompting a Malaysian activist and former teacher to praise his achievement in a viral social media post.
The activist, Mohd Fadli Salleh, commented on Khairul Aming’s remarkable success, describing the celebrity chef as a true influencer with a brain, one who genuinely “influences others with intelligence.”

“All you notice is the money rolling in”
In the Facebook post, Fadli highlighted the importance of gaining knowledge before becoming an influencer.
Amid the rise of social media, many students aspire to become influencers on platforms such as TikTok and YouTube. While Fadli doesn’t view this as a problem, he is concerned about the students’ vision and sense of direction, especially considering the income that could continuously flood into their bank accounts.
“Regardless of how rich you become, if you don’t manage your money wisely, it won’t take you long to become poor again, and it’ll be tough to rise again,” he said.
Fadli further asserted that things are not the same for influencers who are clear about what they’re doing, like Khairul Aming, who has been in the food industry for a decade now, and is transitioning his business from online to offline.

“They plan thoroughly. They have Plan A, B, and so on. People who suddenly become rich, suddenly receiving millions, usually immediately buy luxury cars. Lambos, GTRs, Ferraris. Because they see so much money, they feel it’s the perfect time to indulge,” added Fadli.
Khairul Aming praised for his patience and financial savvy
In contrast, Khairul Aming, despite his millionaire status, still drives a Perodua Bezza, as revealed in his previous live TikTok video. He cited the wish to stay moderate and lead a life with no debts, despite his success.
Fadli further praised Khairul Aming for his patience and financial savvy, noting that the celebrity chef didn’t rush into a lavish lifestyle but instead reinvested his earnings to elevate his business to the next level. Fadli also said he is excited to try Rembayung when the time comes.
“I’ll be there. I can’t wait for Rembayung to be opened,” the activist said.
