Putrajaya Member of Parliament, Datuk Dr. Radzi Jidin, raised a question about the montage video for the launch of Visit Malaysia Year 2026, pointing out that it didn’t show the beauty of the country’s mosque architecture.
In a Facebook post, he said the Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Tiong King Sing, should explain why places of worship for other religions, like Batu Caves and churches, were included, but mosques were left out.
“Have you seen the montage?”
The caption of the post reads,
“Have you seen the montage for the launch of Visit Malaysia Year 2026? Some people have asked me why there are no mosques in the video. Other places of worship are included, so the Minister of Tourism needs to explain.”
The 41-second video featured popular spots like Petaling Street and Central Market in Kuala Lumpur, Mulu Caves in Sarawak, Langkawi Skywalk in Kedah, Batu Caves in Selangor, and a historic church in Melaka.
The launch of Visit Malaysia Year 2026
The VM 2026 launch took place at the Malaysia Airlines Engineering Complex (MAB) last Monday, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim officiating the event.
Tourism Malaysia mentioned in a statement that the sun bear was picked as the campaign’s icon and mascot because it’s the smallest bear species in the world and unique to the tropical regions of Southeast Asia, including Malaysia.
The media also reported that Tourism Malaysia is confident that the VM 2026 campaign will hit its target of bringing in over 35.6 million tourists next year, giving the country’s tourism sector a boost.
