A cleaning worker has died after being run over by a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in an incident in Kampung Kijing, Wednesday morning, as reported by Sinar Harian.
The incident took place at 8.05am after a 28-year-old woman driving a Perodua Alza MPV collided with Muhammad Hairi Mamat’s motorcycle. The 38-year-old victim sustained head and body injuries and was announced dead upon arrival.
Marang District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Mohd Zain Mat Dris explained that initial investigation found that the female driver had hit the victim on the right side while driving from the direction of a football field towards the Marang Syariah Court.
“The victim fell on the road and was crushed by the vehicle. As a result of this, the victim died at the scene,” he said.
The victim has since been taken to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital, Kuala Terengganu for an autopsy.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
