A man in Taiwan turned the tables and “scammed” the scammers and retrieved the money that they took away from his father.

For his mission, which sounded impossible, the man played three different roles in convincing the scammers by luring the racketeers into believing they would receive bigger investments from three interested parties who wanted to invest with them.

“He told the scammers that two of his friends, impressed by his profits, were eager to invest NT$500,000 and NT$1 million, respectively. He also inquired about when they could come to collect the money from his home.”

In a report by the South China Morning Post, the man played the roles so well that he successfully convinced the scammers by telling them he needed the funds immediately for a family emergency.

After hours and cycles of convincing games and playing the roles of investors, the man retrieved the RM94,000 that the scammers initially stole from his father. The scammers had a taste of their own medicine.

Taiwan EBC News also revealed that the father had fallen victim to an online investment scam after the scammer posed as a woman and used constant flattery to persuade him to invest.

“Not only did the scammer personally collect the money, but they also convinced the father to install an unknown app on his phone. The scam group called my father ‘Dad’, continually asking, ‘How have you been? Did you have dinner tonight? How was your sleep?’ They constantly enquired about his health.”

How the man managed to come up with the idea of scamming the scammers is beyond our imagination.
