This man is so cruel!
A man from China tried to murder his pregnant wife by pushing her off a cliff in northeast Thailand!
The three-months-pregnant woman named Wang Nan, 32, was with her husband, Yu Xiaodong, 33, and several other Thai tourists on 9th June when they went to watch the sunrise at Pha Taem National Park.
As the other tourists were leaving, Yu told her to wait near a viewing platform as he wanted to show her a 3,000-year-old cave painting nearby.
However, they did not find any painting, reported South China Morning Post. Instead, Wang said that they moved really close to the edge of the cliff where her husband suddenly turned around, grabbed her by the waist and began kissing her.
Before she knew it, she was pushed off the cliff by her husband and fell 34 metres to the ground. Fortunately, she did not die as her fall was obstructed by a thick layer of trees and bushes before she hit a rock. Although several of her bones were broken, she fortunately escaped serious injuries.
Still conscious after the fall, Wang spent the next 20 minutes yelling for help until rescuers found her and took her to Sappasit Prasong Hospital. Her unborn baby also miraculously survived the accident.
The husband had come along when the rescuers found Wang, and lied to the police that Wang had fallen off the cliff after passing out. However, the Thai police sensed something suspicious as he remained at a distance when they were tending to Wang at the bottom of the cliff, according to The Nation.
An interpreter also overheard Wang asking her husband why he had pushed her, to which he replied: “What are you talking about? Where have you been?”
Pol Colonel Charnchai Innara, commander of the Khong Chiam police station, said that the husband gave them conflicting accounts and claimed that the whole situation was only an accident. However, for the sake of Wang’s safety, they told reporters that it was just an accident.
At the hospital, Wang was kept under constant watch by her husband, so she did not dare to tell the police the truth, but asked the doctors to do something to keep the husband away. The hospital then informed him that he was only allowed to visit her at certain hours of the day.
As she was recovering, she contacted the police through her interpreter and recounted the whole event, revealing the truth of what happened in an interview with Thai Headlines, which published the story on Chinese social media network, Weibo.
After a court in Ubon Ratchathani province approved the husband’s arrest, he was detained on Tuesday (18th June).
The couple from Jiangsu province had been living in Bangkok since 2016 and ran an import-export business.
Wang comes from a well-to-do family and holds all the couple’s assets in her name. However, Yu was heavily in debt and had asked his wife to pay them off. She only agreed to pay off half his debts, after which he got upset and planned to murder her in hopes of inheriting her assets, which are worth an estimated 100 million baht (RM13.4 million), reported Shanghai.ist.
Unfortunately for him, Wang lived to tell the truth which lead to his arrest.
Thank God Wang and her baby survived that fall! It’s fortunate that she lived to tell the truth and that her husband wasn’t able to get away with attempted murder!
