A man in Karnataka, India, has drawn public attention after revealing that he has been drinking only engine oil for the past 33 years.
Nicknamed “Oil Kumar,” he has reportedly never been admitted to a hospital or experienced any serious health issues requiring medical attention, according to NDTV.

He allegedly consumes 7 to 8 litres of engine oil every day, along with several cups of tea
The story gained widespread attention after a video was uploaded to Instagram by the account @avalakki_pavalakki. The video shows Kumar, seated on the roadside, calmly drinking what he claims is engine oil from a mineral water bottle. In the video, bystanders offer him traditional food like rice and chapati, but he refuses, insisting on his daily “meal” of engine oil.
The video has garnered over 3.9 million views and sparked a flood of reactions online. Some viewers expressed disbelief, while others joked about the bizarre habit. Others, however, criticised the video for spreading a dangerous message, warning that such behaviour should not be imitated.

Meanwhile, medical experts have reportedly strongly refuted the possibility of surviving on engine oil. Doctors warn that engine oil is a petroleum-based product containing highly toxic substances, including hydrocarbons, heavy metals (such as lead, copper, and iron), and chemical additives.
These compounds are extremely harmful to the human body and can cause immediate and long-term health consequences.
