BaseUp, a wellness brand developed under Tohtonku Sdn Bhd (“Tohtonku”), officially launches in Malaysia today, redefining modern health with its philosophy, “Wellness Starts at the Base.”

This launch marks a significant milestone for Tohtonku as it expands into the wellness and health category, with more than 60 years of experience and a strong range of resources to address the evolving needs of today’s consumers.

What is BaseUp?

BaseUp addresses one of today’s most prevalent challenges — stress, often driven by over-digitalisation — which may impact multiple aspects of health, including skin appearance, gut health, hormonal balance, and sleep quality.

This growing concern is reflected in national data. Recent reports indicate that 54.4% [1] of Malaysian adults are overweight or obese — the highest in Southeast Asia—while 33.8% [2] report symptoms of insomnia. Additionally, data from Malaysia’s National Cancer Registry shows that skin cancers account for 2.6% [3] of all reported cases, reflecting broader lifestyle-related health challenges faced by the population.

“We launched BaseUp because many of the health issues we face today are interconnected. Stress does not only remain in the mind—it manifests physically, affecting gut health, sleep quality, hormonal balance, and even the skin. When one issue arises, it often triggers another, creating a domino effect,” said Jasper Lim, Executive Director of Tohtonku.

While many solutions focus on addressing symptoms, BaseUp takes a different approach by targeting health at its foundation — addressing root causes from within, at the base.

BaseUp introduces four products that are proven, tried and tested by science experts. Each formulation features unique, Korean-inspired patented and potent active ingredients, supported by clinical studies and published research, and delivered at effective dosages in a convenient liquid format to support optimal absorption.

All BaseUp products are manufactured in Malaysia in compliance with JAKIM Halal certification standards, combining imported scientific innovations with trusted local regulatory standards.

Today’s launch marks the brand’s first step in its commitment to champion modern wellness, starting from the base.
