A recent post has gone viral after a local doctor shared the moment she received a personal message from a follower claiming to have contracted Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).

On her Threads, Dr Azra Aziz said she felt a heavy heart reading the message, especially after learning that the woman was married and insisted she had been “faithful and never had an affair.”

Malaysian woman confides in doctor after learning of husband’s infidelity

According to the story, the woman openly shared how she felt her “life is ruined” after learning that her husband had also tested positive.

“The husband eventually admitted he had sought services outside their marriage. He tried to justify it, saying, ‘It was just once or twice, not often,'” the post read.

Dr Azra reflected on the story, pointing out that even “just once,” especially without protection, can change someone’s life forever.

“It wasn’t anger that hit her, it was heartbreak. The person she trusted was the one who brought that risk into her life. Sometimes, the most faithful person is the one who suffers the most. Not because they did anything wrong, but because they trusted the wrong person,” Dr. Azra added.

“Don’t bring disease back to an innocent partner”

Dr Azra also highlighted that having affairs, whether with men or women, doesn’t just put yourself at risk, but also your partner.

“The virus doesn’t care how many times you’ve had sex. If you have affairs, you’re also putting the person who trusts you at risk. Condoms aren’t 100% foolproof. Yes, infections can still happen, and yes, pregnancy can still occur. But without protection, the risk is completely open.

Not using a condom doesn’t mean you’re ‘risk-free.’ It means opening the door to danger as wide as possible. Protection might not be perfect, but it’s far better than nothing at all,” she added.

She also reminded Malaysians to get tested right away, especially after any risky encounter.
