DVS Investigates Disturbing Viral Video of Kids Allegedly Dragging & Stomping on Cat in T’ganu

A recently viral video shows a cat tied to a rope, being dragged and repeatedly hit by a child.

In the video, a little girl can be seen dragging the cat while a boy repeatedly hits it with his slipper and even stomps on it later.

Department of Veterinary Services probes viral alleged animal abuse in Terengganu

In response to the incident, the Terengganu State Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) issued a statement confirming that it has received a large number of complaints from the public about the alleged animal abuse.

The department said the incident reportedly took place in the district and warned that such acts of cruelty towards animals violate existing laws.

“In this regard, immediate action has been taken to carry out a thorough investigation into the reported incident. The DVS is committed to ensuring the investigation is transparent and comprehensive, with the aim of identifying and prosecuting those responsible,” the statement read.

“Protecting animal welfare is a shared responsibility”

The DVS also urged the public and social media users to avoid speculating or sharing unverified information that could disrupt the ongoing investigation.

The case is currently being looked into under the Animal Welfare Act 2015 [Act 772].

“Public cooperation in respecting the legal process is essential until the investigation is complete and official findings are released. The DVS also encourages anyone with information about the incident to come forward and share it directly with the department to help with the investigation. Protecting animal welfare is a shared responsibility, and the department is committed to ensuring that justice is served.”
