Imagine purchasing a bun to fill your carb cravings and when you finally manage to get a hold of it, you take a bite, anticipating it to be soft and fluffy but instead, you hear a loud CRACK! And just like that… you have broken your teeth.

Seems like something that would probably never happen, right? Well, WRONG!

Although it probably seems like an unlikely scenario, this actually happened to a man in Singapore.

The 34-year-old man named Xie, ended up breaking his teeth after eating a ‘butterfly bun’ at a store called Dough Culture that was located in a shopping mall.

Instead of biting on what seemed like an ordinary bun, he had apparently bitten down on a rock that was about the size of his fingernails. This caused him to lose two of his teeth.

The two broken teeth were actually implants that Xie had paid about S$3,000 to S$4,000 (RM9000 – RM12,000) for in a corrective dental procedure in Guangzhou, China.

The dentist who treated him after the incident said Xie’s teeth were unlikely to be fixed and he might have to put on dentures instead.

According to Lianhe Wanbao, Xie said things got really bloody once he realized his teeth had broken. He was enraged with anger when he forgot to take pictures as evidence.

He immediately went to the staff and lodged a complaint.

Xie was then promised that the headquarters would investigate the incident further. A manager also promised to accompany him to a partner clinic the next day.

However, these promises have not been kept. Xie ended up going for his appointment alone. His calls to the store were also ignored multiple times.

Hence, he lodged a police report after failing to hear back from them within a week.

In response to media queries, Singapore Food Agency said they are currently looking into this matter.
