Jong will be bringing home Malaysia’s second medal from the Paralympics after Bonnie Bunyau Gustin bagged gold at the men’s 72kg category on Saturday (28 August).
The pressure was on for the hairdresser from Batu Kawa, Kuching after he won the silver medal at the 11th Fazza Dubai Powerlifting World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in June.
Jong has certainly redeemed himself after finishing in 7th place in the 97kg category in his Paralympic debut at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympics, according to Astro Awani.
Meanwhile, Mongolia’s Enkhbayar Sodnompiljee won the gold medal after lifting 245kg.
Congrats Jong! Malaysia is super proud of you!
