In this world where money equals survival, people have become rather closed off from being open to being generous.
However, Hazwan Faiz is one of those rare gems in this world who still has a heart of gold. In a Facebook post which went viral, Hazwan shared how he ‘invested’ RM200 that eventually ballooned into a 6-figure income.
He wrote,
“In early October, I went to Sabah for a shopping festival event as a vendor for two days. Since the beginning, I went through some tough times; flight delay, terrible weather that resulted in turbulence, and the traffic in Sabah was terrible.
“I remember my friend telling me that if things like this happened, don’t fret. Just believe in God, and so I felt okay.
“That night itself, my staff and I started setting up our booth in the exhibition hall. Due to the cold from the rain, I had to make a quick stop at the men’s room.”
That was when Hazwan noticed a lady in her 40s and her 6-year-old son in the toilet. She was a cleaner there.
“I didn’t say anything to her but just as I was about to leave, I gave the son a little bit of cash for school.
“The next day, the festival began with excitement. However, my team and I were at a stump because we couldn’t reach our sales goal. The difference was truly big.
“I advised my staff and family members to be steady and patient because we should trust in God’s plans. It’s alright.”
Throughout the whole event, Hazwan went to the toilet several times and kept seeing the lady with her son. Finally, during one of the trips to the toilet with his friend, he spoke to the lady.
“She told me that she cleans the toilet even when there are no events there. Her pay was RM600, and she has 6 children.
“One of her children passed away because she couldn’t bring them to the hospital on time as she had to work. She had no money.”
Hazwan wanted to run off crying at that time after hearing the heartbreaking story. However, he didn’t do so as he was still waiting for his friend to be done with his business in the loo; hence he remained calm.
“So, I opened my wallet. It had RM250 in there. I gave her RM200. I thought of giving her everything but I still had to think of my own kid.
“I didn’t think much of it at that time because all I knew was that it wasn’t right if I didn’t give her the money. The makcik was shocked and straightaway prayed to God to return my blessings.”
After that, the festival ended. Hazwan and his team decided to continue their sales via their website. In the next four days right after the festival, a tonne of people went onto their website and bought a lot!
“I truly did not expect it. The staff were in chaos. We passed sacks of packages after sacks of packages to the postmen.
“Within those four days, we made sales that went up to six-figures! It was a breaking record for us while running this online business. We wanted to cry tears of joy.”
“I thought back about it and remembered the lady in the toilet. Perhaps it was the lady’s prayers which came true. I also remembered my mother-in-law’s words – if we help others, God will help us in return.”
Well, whether we believe in God or not, it is true that whatever goes around will come around. Hazwan treated the lady well and selflessly gave her most of the cash in his wallet.
In return for his generosity, he was blessed with a booming business. What good have you done today? 🙂
