Many of us probably know what it’s like to be stuck in standstill traffic and be forced to make way for ambulances, police officers, or VIPs who sometimes make an appearance on the highway. While most of us usually make way for them, there are a few who would just NOT budge no matter what. Now, this recent case might make drivers think twice about doing that!

A 32-year-old insurance agent recently pleaded guilty to not giving way for a VVIP’s police convoy while on the North-South Expressway (NSE).

Charges were read out to the driver, identified as Leong Kean Beun, at the Magistrate Court in Tapah, Perak yesterday (31st October) according to Front Desk.

The incident reportedly transpired last Thursday (25th October) at 5.20pm on KM351 of the NSE when Leong allegedly drove his Toyota Lexus and repeatedly blocked the VVIP convoy behind him.

The driver was subsequently reported to the police and charged under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant in discharge of his public functions. If found guilty, those charged under this section could face up to two years in jail or a maximum fine of RM10,000.

After pleading guilty, Leong was sentenced to a RM5,000 fine and may be sentenced to 5 months in jail if he fails to pay it on time.
