The statement was in conjunction with the 29th HASiL Day celebration in Cyberjaya yesterday (10 March), which was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In his speech, as quoted by LHDN in the statement, the Prime Minister congratulated LHDN for the achievement and asserted that comprehensive direct tax collection contributed over 50% of the overall Federal Government income.

Anwar added that this allows for more aggressive fiscal reform agendas, including progressive tax revenue expansion and targeted subsidies that are more fair, transparent and effective.

Furthermore, LHDN implemented more focused and strategic enforcement measures in 2024, including stricter monitoring and close cooperation with other enforcement agencies. The effectiveness of these measures was demonstrated by the increase in national revenue collection and better compliance levels.

The Prime Minister thus call on all parties, both individuals and corporations, to carry out their respective tax responsibilities with full awareness and a sense of responsibility to ensure that the country’s progress and prosperity are maintained.
