On 22 July, CITF said that they will not be giving any vaccines to teens who are below the age of 18 as of yet as they would like to avoid any risks of myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) and pericarditis (inflammation of the pericardium, the fibrous sac surrounding the heart) as was shown in an American study.
Teens to get vaccinated soon
On 13 August, the minister in charge of the National Immunisation Plan (PICK) announced that they will start giving vaccinations to teens (12 to 17-year olds) following the revised recommendation from the Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham.
As per @DGHisham’s latest circular following revised recommendations to @JKJAVMY, PICK will start giving vaccinations to 12-17 year olds with the following priority order:
1) 12-17 w/ underlying medical conditions

The priority order is as follows:
- 12-17-year-olds with underlying medical conditions
- 12-17-year-olds with no medical issues based on age de-escalation
The minister added that JKJAV will be making an announcement in the following week on how the Covid-19 vaccinations for teenagers will be implemented following Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham’s circular and the latest clinical guidelines.
