Going out of our own way to help someone else just isn’t something most of us Malaysians would bother to do. In the end, if it doesn’t benefit us, nor is it convenient for us, we wouldn’t care.
But still, there are those of us who still believe in making a difference for the better! And we can totally take this story as an example.
Francis Liew shared the heartwarming story of how two complete strangers went out of their way just to return a wallet they found on a taxi. Apparently, these humble strangers came from Indonesia.
What touched everyone’s heart was the fact that it was over a small matter that most of us would have turned a blind eye to.
Francis wrote,
“At about 11.55pm last night, they startled my whole family when they summoned me with the help of my loud doorbell.”
“These 2 strangers, carrying a sleepy toddler came all the way in a cab and at almost midnight too, just to return a wallet which my daughter had dropped about an hour earlier.”
“When I realised the purpose of their unplanned visit, I was simply stunned and could only say thank you humbly and with great appreciation.”
“They refused any compensation from me while they bade me farewell with me standing there like a dodo waving my thankful hand.”
“After a minute or two, I told myself it’s just not right. How can I just let them go like that? So in my boxers and t-shirt, I ran downstairs after them but they were nowhere in sight.”
Desperate to find the amazingly kindhearted pair, Francis whispered a prayer hoping he will find them. He immediately turned towards the left and ran all the way to the main road.
And God definitely answered his prayer because they were right there!
“Lo and behold, I saw a yellow taxi by the road with the lady already sitting inside while the gentleman was about to get in. I shouted ‘Encik, wait!'”
Francis ran down the hill, all the way towards the still car and reached them.
“The couple still decline my small token of appreciation but I gave it to the bewildered taxi driver anyway.”
“After explaining to him what had happened, I instructed him to deduct the fare from the amount and give the balance to the couple.”
Francis was extremely thankful for meeting such a wonderful pair.
“Thank God for sending help in such unexpected manner. Because my daughter is only back for a month she didn’t clear out her UK bank card and other important cards like her IC.”
“Imagine the hassle of having to replace them all?”
“There are still many nice people around! If you know me, you will know that I would have done the same for anyone too. Now I will continue to do so with more purpose and oomph.”
“Let’s not lose faith in humanity!”
After reading this beautiful story, many netizens poured into the comments section to show their love for the couple too.
“God bless the world with more good people.”
“Thanks for the reminding us that good people are everywhere, of every race, language and religion. And may we choose to be kind to our fellow humans too!“
Truly blessed that Francis is. They say what you do to others will be done unto you too. So be kind to everyone around you and they will treat you nicely too.
This is the time for us to change ourselves for the better, Malaysia! Let’s all do this together.
