The habit of saving money to avoid overspending is admirable, but is saving money by eating the same food every day a good idea?

A Malaysian woman who expected something different on her birthday recently vented her emotions about her boyfriend, who brought her to the same place for her birthday meal. In an anonymous dilemma shared on Dcard,  the woman said that her boyfriend brought her to eat a mixed rice meal on her birthday and went home straight after.

“Not just on my birthday but on our anniversary, he brought me to eat a mixed rice meal too!”

“I’m not expecting a fine dining, but something a little different?”

In her confession, the woman clarified that she was not expecting something like a candlelight dinner or a fine dining experience but merely something different like a cafe would do.

“I wouldn’t mind something like Japanese cuisine, too. I don’t need the place to be expensive.”

The woman also said that she has no issues with having mixed rice, but not when she has had it every day for every meal.

“I can’t believe that I had the same food even on my birthday, and I didn’t even get a present.”

But why mixed rice? Is her boyfriend really trying to save as much as he could?

When asked about the choice of birthday meal for his girlfriend, the man’s answer was straightforward.

“Mixed rice is convenient and has a lot of choices. It saves us the fight from thinking what to eat.”

The woman was left speechless by his answer and continued to wonder how to change his mind when it came to choosing a better meal for special occasions.

Ladies, what do you think of mixed rice as a birthday meal? Gentlemen, what are your best food ideas to keep your partners happy on special occasions?
