Just days after the founders of Bubblebee were fined RM17,500 for arrears in SOCSO (Social Security Organisation) contributions, Shuib Sepahtu and Goh Choon Guan are now facing more charges for failing to pay service taxes and penalty worth RM1.6 million.

According to all the charges, they were accused of failing to pay service tax amounting to RM1,191,153.78 and a penalty of RM454,000 for the period from January 1 to December 31 of last year.

Both of them, however, pleaded NOT guilty to the charges.

The offence is allegedly committed at the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM), Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (LTSAAS) branch, Subang.

Berita Harian reported that the charges were filed under Section 26(8) of the Service Tax Act 2018, read together with Section 78 of the same Act, and they can be punished under the same section and Act.

If found guilty, Shuib and Choon Guan face jail time of up to 3 years or a fine of not more than RM50,000 or both.
