A woman was allegedly stabbed by her husband after a fight broke out at their home near Kampung Iboi, Kupang in Kedah last night.
According to Sinar Harian, Baling District Police Chief, Superintendent Syed Basri Syed Ali said the incident started when an argument took place between the couple outside their house before it moved into their room.
The victim’s mother said she was in her room before she heard an argument going on between her daughter and her son-in-law. She then heard the sound of the kitchen door cracking due to being kicked.
The 36-year-old victim said that she was stabbed with a knife twice in her left abdomen before her husband fled the scene.
“The victim’s mother tried to contact the police but her son-in-law grabbed the phone from her and slammed it to the floor until it broke apart. He then threatened to injure the 67-year-old woman,” said Syed Basri.
“The suspect then pointed a knife at the victim’s mother, causing her to not fight back because she was worried about being injured,” he added.
The victim was treated at the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH) Sungai Petani and was reported stable.
It is understood that the victim suffered injuries due to wounds about three centimeters deep as a result of being stabbed after the quarrel.
Police are currently hunting for the suspect and the man is believed to be still in the area because he could not leave following the implementation of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).
The investigation is conducted in accordance with Section 324 of the Penal Code.
