Whenever we drive on the road nowadays, it always seems to be a battle with other road users when they unexpectedly cut into the lane or brake suddenly. This is not limited to those who drive cars but also to those who ride motorcycles and drive lorries.

On 23 September, the Road Transport Department’s (JPJ) deputy director-general (Planning and Operations) Aedy Fadli Ramli said that they would be conducting a “large-scale special operation against commercial vehicles”, reported BERNAMA.

“Instructions have been issued to all state JPJ directors to conduct special operations on commercial vehicles carrying excess loads that violate the laws and may pose a danger to the safety of other road users.

He continued by saying that the special operation would be led by the state JPJ directors, “The JPJ headquarters, especially the Enforcement Division, has also been instructed to closely monitor these operations and submit a complete report to the JPJ top management and also the Ministry of Transport.”

This comes after an accident on Wednesday (Sept 20) where a lorry laden with sand crashed into 14 vehicles in Putrajaya, causing 2 deaths and injuring 7 others.

Giving an update on the accident, Aedy Fadli Ramli mentioned that the Inspection and Safety Audit (JISA) report related to the accident will most probably be submitted to the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) on Monday (25 September).
