In a statement issued by the Public Service Department (JPA), the captions of the video were said to be false as the whole thing took place some time ago and was a security drill in the event that a provocative situation ensues.
According to BERNAMA, JPA also believes that this video was “shared on social media by irresponsible parties to play up negative sentiments against the government.”
“The JPA views seriously any attempt to weaken public service institutions by giving the impression that the government is not responsible for the issues and welfare of public officials in the country.”
The department urges everyone to not be so easily deceived by information that was shared to tarnish the government.
This case is currently being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, if found guilty, there will be a maximum RM50,000 fine imposed, imprisonment of up to 1 year or both.
