The parents of the Form 1 student who fell from her school building have responded to the matter publicly last night (October 8) via Facebook Live, where they expressed their regret.
“It’s like cutting my heart with a blade”
The late teen’s father, Simon Leong, had much to share about his daughter’s demise, including the pain that he has been feeling knowing that she chose to bid farewell to the world that way. Simon also said that back home, his daughter has always been playful and happy, and has never expressed any sadness.
“She chose to leave like this and honestly, it breaks my heart. It feels like my heart is being cut by a blade.”
Simon also said that his deceased daughter is the 3rd child out of 4 children, and he and his wife have never been biased towards any of them. Unfortunately, the father had not the slightest idea about the pressure that his late daughter was going through.
“Maybe I have never expressed my love properly, and she never felt my love for her. I regret it and I can’t stop wondering about the pressure that she went through that she chose to leave like this,” Simon expressed.
As a father, Simon has been trying to look for answers about his deceased daughter’s emotions from her siblings, friends, and teachers. Unfortunately, no one could give him a definite answer.
This has caused Simon to continuously blame himself for never noticing the pain of his daughter who is no longer among the living.
“Pay more attention, express your love”
In the live video, Simon also urged other families to pay more attention to each other and when it comes to love, always express it to let others know how you feel.
“I treat my kids like how my older generations treated me. I never knew what gentleness meant, and it’s not common for me to express my love.”
Simon also said he blamed no one for the death but himself.
“But, I cannot collapse right now. I still have a wife and 3 other kids, I need to be strong and treat this family with love to prevent history from repeating itself again.”
Our thoughts and prayers go to the grieving family members of the victim.
