A 15-year-old teenage boy in Pattaya, Thailand, suffered severe injuries on 14 March after a dispute over loud motorcycle exhaust turned violent.
The victim, known as Jeng (alias), was chased and assaulted by three individuals past midnight, resulting in a severe head wound caused by a sharp weapon believed to be a knife.
Local police and rescue volunteers found Jeng fully covered in blood at the scene
According to the Thai-based publication The Pattaya News, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Centre received a report of an assault in Soi Wat Boon Samphan in Pattaya at 1.06am.
The centre then coordinated with officers from the Nongprue Police Station and rescue volunteers to attend to the distress call.
At the scene, they found Jeng fully covered in blood while his concerned friends surrounded him. Rescue workers then provided first aid before transporting him to the hospital.
The assault was instigated by a feud over loud motorcycle exhaust
Jeng revealed that he and his friends were riding motorcycles to buy snacks when another group of teenagers shouted insults at them due to the loud exhaust of one of their motorbikes. One of Jeng’s friends then shouted back with offensive language.
As they were riding back, they encountered the three suspects waiting for them, who were part of the group they had the altercation with.
The suspects then chased and attacked them with sharp weapons. Amidst the chase, Jeng lost control of his motorbike and fell to the ground, at which point he was struck in the head with a sharp weapon.
The police thus advised Jeng and his friends to file an official complaint at the Nongprue Police Station so that the police could track down the suspects and take legal action.
