IOI Mall Damansara Achieved Malaysia Book of Record of “Longest Non-Stop Stair Climbing Relay Session in a Shopping Mall”

IOI Mall Damansara, in collaboration with the Malaysia Towerrunning Association (MTA), proudly presents the Step the Stairs Challenge, a one-of-a-kind health and fitness event happening on 15 September 2025 (Monday), from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, a 12-hours challenge at the MRT Staircase, Level CC, IOI Mall Damansara.

The Step the Stairs Challenge kicked off promptly at 9:00 AM with an official flag-off by Y.B. Tuan Muhammad Izuan Bin Ahmad Kasim, ADUN Kota Damansara.

With overwhelming public participation, the Step the Stairs Challenge proudly achieved the Malaysia Book of Records with the title:
“Longest Non-Stop Stair Climbing Relay Session in a Shopping Mall.”

The challenge concluded at 9:00 PM with a closing ceremony graced by YBrs. Tuan Hj. Mohamad Zahri bin Hj. Samingon, Datuk Bandar of Petaling Jaya.

This unique 12-hour challenge is designed to raise health awareness among the community, inspiring Malaysians to take simple yet impactful steps, literally towards healthier lifestyles. Stair climbing not only helps to maintain physical fitness, but also enhances mental resilience, making it a holistic exercise for the body and mind.

The event was graced by Soh Wai Ching, Towerrunning World Champion, whose special appearance added support and inspiration to the challenge. The event welcomed both casual participants and 28 dedicated challenge runners, many of whom showcased impressive endurance and commitment.

The success of the event was made possible through valuable collaborations. Sunway Medical Centre Damansara, as the Official Health Partner, provided insightful health talks for the public and on-ground medical support to ensure a safe experience for all. Together with the Malaysia Towerrunning Association, this collaboration created a truly meaningful experience for both participants and supporters.
