The power of love trumps everything. In fact, it’s so strong that it even got an illegal immigrant to turn himself in to the authorities!

On May 21, a 26-year-old illegal worker who has been working in Taiwan for years shockingly surrendered himself to the police and requested to be deported back to his home country, Vietnam.

According to Sin Chew, Teh had left Vietnam back in 2014 to seek employment in Taiwan. Thankfully, he was hired to work in a steel factory in the southern side of Taiwan.

However, his employment at the steel factory was short-lived. A year later, Teh’s employer decided to deport him back to Vietnam because he was absent from work without taking leave first.

Teh refused to go back to Vietnam as job opportunity there was scarce. So, he left the steel factory and went to the northern side of Taiwan to do some odd jobs. Despite bouncing from job to job, he never failed to send money to his girlfriend back in Vietnam.

It was reported that Teh would send approximately RM4,300 per month to his girlfriend who goes by Ah Qiong, in preparation for their future wedding. To date, they’ve managed to amass RM140,000 in their bank account.

Recently, his girlfriend has been pressuring him into the wedding. So, he decided to turn himself in to the police in Taiwan with the aim of being deported back to Vietnam asap.

After pacing in front of a police station one evening, a policeman approached him. That was when Teh told the policeman:

“I’m here to lodge a police report, please deport me back to Vietnam!”

The police couldn’t make sense of his request at first. But after listening to Teh’s story and looking at his girlfriend’s picture, they got it. Apparently Ah Qiong is a very beautiful lady, and was described by the policeman as ‘prettier than a celebrity’.

Ahh… now we know why Teh wanted to be deported so badly.

Looks like his wish came true after all as he was subsequently taken to the immigration task force of Taiwan.

Well, we wish Teh a safe flight back to Vietnam and a very happy wedding!
