As soon as you walk into an Ikea, you will be mesmerized by the intricacy of the display and showrooms. The interior design is meant to be an inspiration for visitors to picture themselves living in those rooms and to decide if they want to purchase the furniture.
However, some of us got a little carried away or maybe forgot we weren’t in our own homes.
Kelvin, a netizen who visited the newly opened IKEA Batu Kawan, Penang for the first time shared his unpleasant experience. His post titled ‘Rape scene in IKEA Batu Kawan – a mirror of Budaya Malaysia?’ is a little dramatic, but point taken.
These are some of the photos he shared.
That’s why we can never have nice things.
Visitors made a mess out of the neatly arranged beds and vandalised the furniture with drawings. Kelvin expressed his disappointment, even blaming the education system in the country for producing such inconsiderate individuals. He said,
“The mess is like a house after being robbed. Every bed, sofa and chair were not in their original place. It is like the rooms were turned upside down.”
The man ended his vent by saying that although we are living the Malaysia Baru, the mentality of so many Malaysians are still stuck in the past. C’mon Malaysia, let’s be better than this. We are not some third world country to behave like this. Please be more considerate ok?
